Cancelling your subscription

ScrollSci is free right now

At the time of writing there is no paid tier switched on, so there is nothing to cancel and nothing to refund. This page describes what happens once paid plans are live, and applies from the moment they are.

Cancelling a subscription

Open Settings in the app and choose Cancel subscription. That is the whole process. There is no phone call, no form and no requirement to explain yourself.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for. You keep unlimited scrolls until that date, and no further payment is taken. Your settings page will show the date access ends rather than a renewal date, so you can confirm the cancellation actually registered.

Payments are non-refundable

Subscription payments are not refunded, in whole or in part — including for time you did not use after cancelling, and including if you forgot a renewal was due.

That is a deliberate choice, and it is only reasonable because of how the service is priced and shaped. ScrollSci has a free tier, so you can read it properly before paying anything. The paid plans are a small monthly or yearly amount rather than a commitment worth arguing over. Cancelling takes one click and stops the next charge immediately, so nobody is ever trapped in a renewal they have to write in to escape.

Two things we always put right

"Non-refundable" does not cover money that was never owed, and it does not override the law:

If one of those two applies to you

Email [email protected] from the address on your account. Include the payment reference from your Razorpay receipt if you have it — it makes the whole thing faster, but it is not required.

• We reply within 2 working days.
• Where money is due back, it is submitted to the payment provider within 5 working days of us agreeing it.
• The money then takes 5 to 7 working days to appear, depending on your bank or card issuer. That last stretch is outside our control.

Money always goes back to the original payment method. We cannot send it to a different card, account or UPI ID — the payment provider does not allow it, and that restriction protects you as much as us.

Gifts

A gift is a single payment for a fixed stretch of access for somebody else. Nothing recurs, so there is no mandate to cancel and no second charge to worry about. Gift payments are non-refundable.

If you sent one to the wrong address, or the person you bought it for already has a subscription, write to us: as long as it has not been redeemed we can point it at a different email address instead. That costs nobody anything and is usually what people actually want.

Prices and currency

All prices are in Indian Rupees and include any applicable taxes. Payment is processed by Razorpay; ScrollSci never receives or stores your card details. Changing a plan's price never affects an existing subscription — a new price means a new plan, and you stay on the one you signed up to until you choose otherwise.

If you are not happy with the outcome

Write to the Grievance Officer named on our privacy page. Complaints are acknowledged within 48 hours and resolved within 30 days.

ScrollSci is operated as a sole proprietorship registered in India under the Udyam scheme.

ScrollSci is run by one person and operates entirely online, so the registered address is a private residence rather than an office. It is not published here for that reason. The proprietor's name, address and registration particulars are provided in full on request — to a customer with a complaint, to a payment provider, or to any authority entitled to ask. Email is the fastest way to reach a real person, and it is answered by the person who built the thing.
